About Ruth Greenwood
I'm a BACP registered, person-centred counsellor based in Congleton, Cheshire, offering face-to-face sessions locally and online sessions across the UK.
I first encountered the power of counselling when I, myself, felt lost and unsure how to resolve what was going on in my life. Counselling helped me understand the patterns in my life that weren't helpful to me, and to make changes towards feeling more happiness, more contentment, and more like myself. That experience is part of what led me to train as a counsellor.
My approach
My approach is person-centred, which means we cultivate an equal relationship: no one else can be the expert of your life but you. As the client, you lead the direction of each session, discussing what feels right for you each time. I'm not there to offer my opinion or advice, but to listen and walk alongside you through the counselling journey.
I have a wealth of experience helping people understand difficult relationships, and I've taught mindfulness practices for over 15 years, drawing on some of those calming techniques within sessions where they might be useful to you.
